Dr Gligorov: We need a National Children's Hospital, where all pediatric specialists would be in one place

"As a European country, we are obliged to have a National Multiprofile Children's Hospital, in which all departments are in one place. When a child is admitted, after triage, if it is an emergency or comes for treatment of a given disease, he should receive highly specialized health care. Even if it is necessary for other specialists to examine him, without the child and parents having to visit different specialized hospitals. This will be a medical institution for providing complex medical care. We need a hospital in which all pediatric specialists are in one place," Dr. Gligorov was categorical.
"We will give parents the opportunity to be with their child, because the new concept in medicine and especially pediatric care is for parents to participate in the treatment process with psychological support," said Dr. Vlatko Gligorov in response to a journalistic question.
"This week, the Ministry of Health launched a campaign to select specialists under the project "Encouraging specialization in specialties and in areas with a shortage of specialists", under the "Human Resources Development Program", second phase in the period 2021 - 2027, shared the Executive Director of the "Health Investment Company for Children's Hospital". 13 specialties missing in Bulgaria are planned for support. They will be encouraged, with 10 of them related to children's healthcare - pediatric gastroenterology, pediatric endocrinology, pediatric healthcare, etc., specified Dr. Gligorov.
What the National Children's Hospital will look like is expected to be presented to the public at the end of January 2025.
"We work very well with the "Public Council for the Construction of a Children's Hospital", which also has proposals and we take them into account as much as possible when they correspond to the idea and concept of IDOM - the consultants approved by the European Investment Bank.
