The National Children's Hospital will have 440 beds for inpatient treatment, distributed in 26 clinics and departments. It is planned to hire over 1,500 staff, including 342 doctors and 577 nurses, it became clear from a joint briefing by Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev, Minister of Health Dr. Galya Kondeva and the Executive Director of the "Health Investment Company for Children's Hospital". The "Plan for the Structure and Capacity" of the medical institution, prepared by the consultants of the European Investment Bank and approved by the Ministry of Health, was presented on the grounds of the children's hospital.

"The grounds for the children's hospital are almost cleared. By November 15, it is expected to be completely cleared. If you remember - on June 1, on Children's Day, everything started. Today it looks completely different - the buildings are gone," Prime Minister Glavchev was categorical. "In 4 years, a 40-year stagnation will be overcome," added the acting prime minister.

"The additional structures that we convinced the consortium that they are important and necessary for our healthcare are pediatrics, the genetic laboratory, nuclear medicine, and physiotherapy and rehabilitation," said Dr. Galya Kondeva, Minister of Health. The Health Minister said that they were made as a result of the opinions received from the Public Council and proposals from experts from various pediatric specialties, as well as after long discussions with the Belgian-Spanish consortium and the European Investment Bank. "The capacity plan emphasizes the individual approach to each child and the possibility of comprehensive care in one place. The focus will be on day procedures and outpatient treatment," added Dr. Kondeva.

In the meantime, we are also preparing the next report together with the Public Council, the IDOM consultants and the European Bank. It is about the Functional program of the hospital. This was stated by Dr. Vlatko Gligorov, Executive Director of the “Health Investment Company for Children's Hospital”.

By the end of the year, a report is also expected to be prepared by the consultants on the necessary furnishings and equipment for the children's hospital. In parallel, work will also be carried out on preparing public procurement for design and construction.

The work on the construction of the National Children's Hospital continues to be a top priority for the Prime Minister and the entire government.
